Gene and Mike were the big winners of the guided trip from Kelly Nueman at Streamside Custom Rod and Guide Service. Kelly donated a full day trip on any of the rivers he services in Northern Mich.
Here’s a quick report from Gene along with some pics.
Mike and I fished with Kelly on September 30th. Kelly did a great job and was very enjoyable to be with as a Guide. He provided excellent equipment and a great lunch of pork chops with all the trimmings.
I landed three out of about ten hook ups. I believe Mike landed five or six out of a dozen or so hook ups. All fish were in the range of 15 to 20 pounds. Those Kings would run 75 yards up/down stream and then back again. Lots of fun! We fished the lower Platte River first thing in the morning (crystal clear water with lots of visible fish). When it got crowded, we moved to the Betsie Riverand drifted from Fred’s Landing to the old power dam. Mike caught a couple fish on the Betsie. I did not land any out of two or three hook ups.
Both rivers were very scenic, but I think I preferred the Platte.
I would recommend using Kelly Neuman to anyone; he’s very proficient as a river guide and entertaining to be with.
